All Pack Families Welcome!
Join Pack 400 for our annual Pinewood Derby! This exciting event brings Cub Scouts together to race their handcrafted wooden cars down our official track. Cheer on your Scout and enjoy this fun-filled tradition that has been a cornerstone of the Cub Scout program since 1953.
The Pinewood Derby originated in 1953 when Don Murphy, a Cubmaster in Manhattan Beach, California, created the event for his son who was too young to participate in the Soap Box Derby. Since then, it has become one of the most popular and iconic Cub Scout activities, with more than 100 million cars being crafted and raced by Scouts across the country.
Each Scout transforms a simple block of pine wood into a race car using their creativity, craftsmanship, and imagination - with a little help from their adult partners. Beyond the fun of racing, the activity promotes craftsmanship, sportsmanship, and parent-child bonding.
We need your help to make our Pinewood Derby a success! Please sign up to snack items to munch on during the derby.
