Pack 400 Camping
What's it Like?
Pack 400 generally camps twice a year at the Fall and Spring Camporees hosted by the Old Hickory Council. We arrive at camp on Friday night and depart Sunday morning. These camp outs host a variety of events for you to experience with your Scout. Typically events include climbing, repeling, archery, BB guns, splingshots, hiking, bouldering, and much more. Some of these events allow Scouts to earn extra awards, such as Shooting Sports. Saturday night usually wraps up with a Camp Fire at the OA arena with all Packs attending.
Accommodations
Typically we are assigned a campsite with Adirondaks (a type of open cabin with built-in bunk beds); other times we must bring tents. Tents are wecome even at Adirondak camp sites as well. Each campsite features a latrine with pit toilets and running water for washing hands. A bath house with showers is available within a short walking distance. There are also flush toilets available at several locations at camp.
Meals
We prepare all food together as a Pack. A menu will be created and a signup sheet circulated asking for people signup to bring ingredients. Parents will also be asked to sign up on a duty roster to assist with meal prep, cooking, and cleaning.
Uniform
All scouts are expected to wear their Field Uniform (formally "Class A") when traveling (Friday evening, Sunday morning) and at the Saturday evening campfire. The Activity Uniform (formally "Class B") is expected to be worn for daytime activities on Saturday. Sometimes an event will requested that all participats wear the provided event t-shirt for daytime activities on Saturday.
